OneTaste is the renowned music and spoken word collective led by musician Jamie Woon and producer Dannii Evans. From the vaudeville surroundings of Balham's Bedford pub they’ve showcased the best of London’s emerging talent beside several kindred spirits from further afield for more than six years.
It's thanks to this dedicated and tight-knit community that culture vultures and good music lovers have discovered some of the UK's most promising new artists: Mercury Music prize nominees Portico Quartet, Oi Va Voi, Tawiah, Polarbear, Inua Ellams and Jono McCleery. At the same time, they've had the vision to support some special imports from day one – the chilling beauty of Little Dragon springs to mind.
From paying gig night to festival touring troupe and recording collective (check the compilation at itunes.apple.com/us/album/onetaste-compilation-vol-1/id336322890), the OneTaste story has been uplifting and galvanising. And it's far from over.
On June 16 OneTaste crosses the border with a plan to conquer their largest indoor space to date – the notorious Koko club. Performing that night will be MC Xander, Oi Va Voi, WOON, Polarbear, Kate Tempest, David J and Special Guests, Portico Quartet.
